About

James Marshall is the CTO for Small & Medium-Sized Businesses at Microsoft UK, and is dedicated to helping small businesses and Microsoft Partners – YOU – grow and succeed with technology. Whether it’s understanding how you can incorporate cloud services like Microsoft Azure into your partner business, or how you begin to think about reinventing productivity for the employees of your business, he can help.

James started his career in IT in the real world; as an IT Technician in a local secondary school. After becoming a Network Manager he took a career break to go to Reading University in 2008 to study Information Technology.

James has been at Microsoft since 2010 and is proud to have consulted on some of the biggest Office 365 Education deployments in the world, transforming the experience of students and teachers with cutting-edge cloud technology. James has helped dozens of public sector organisations move away from Windows XP to a modern, secure platform and has even spent some time leading a high-performing technical sales team, co-selling with highly skilled Microsoft Partners.

Oh, and he loves nothing more than getting up in front of an audience and talking about how Microsoft technology can help get people on the path to “Digital Transformation“.

You’re probably a geek at heart – so is James; with a big passion for using technology in new ways to help people achieve more. In his spare time, he dabbles with electronics (his favourite YouTube channel is bigclivedotcom), likes to build things with his BBC micro:bit and various Raspberry Pis, eat good food and spend time with his wonderful family.

But enough about James. He wants to hear from YOU. He loves hearing about the cool stuff you’re doing with technology, especially Microsoft technology. You can find James Marshall online in most forms of social media as jamesbmarshall.
